Peering into peoples lives when I should be vacuuming...

The story of my life.

I thought I'd check my students blogs to see how everyone is making out on practicum. Some have posted, others have long forgotten their site.....it was only an assignment to them.

I got a glimpse into what Jeremy and Emily are doing in their work placements, and a view from afar as to what Nick is dealing with these days....

......it was nice.....but now I really have to vacuum...really, before the dust bunnies band together and overthrow our little democracy...

I miss my class.

Interesting and somewhat rough couple of weeks...

Here's the thing....I like my students, but there are some weeks (when people are making multiple excuses over multiple days for not having multiple assignments done) I wish I were back at the CBC.

Sure, there's a lot of complaining at Mother Corpse, but everyone knows what a deadline is.....

Hopefully some of my students will also understand deadlines and begin to meet them before their second year.......

We can always hope.....

The sad thing about this is....I had an excuse in my first year to be late with assignments, not finish projects, even QUIT! I had a kid....was off for one month, caught up, and graduated with honors.

I think it comes down to motivation.....maybe ALL of my students should have kids?! LOL It made me a more motivated individual....determined not to be a statistic, not to end up depending on social assistance my whole life.

Some of my students lack motivation.

And yes, while I was motivated, after Kristen was born, I still partied, but knew my limits, re: work load. If I had to get a lot done that week, I may have gone drinking, but limited my intake.

But I do remember not all of my classmates were motivated. We lost four people betweeen first and second year....Christine, John, Stan and Glen......we went from 16 to 12. It was an interesting two years.....one where, in my first job, I realized I had a good foundation, but that job experience was key.....

Can't wait for my students in second year to get out and experience the workplace....it's going to really give them what they need....a taste of freedom, a taste of power and a taste of the real world....

....April 27th is coming WAY too fast.......because as much as I want them to experience all of this, I am also going to miss having them around.......yes, even you Nick.....even you.. :)

In this class we're learning about the world of multi-media.

Each student has created a blog and have three multi-media assignments to complete.

I'm expecting GREAT things......they're a creative bunch....and I'm really looking forward to each of their assignments!
